1. Where our numbers come from
Every guide draws on at least three of the following: published provider price lists, veterinary and consumer cost surveys, insurance claims data, industry associations (AVMA, NAPHIA), and government statistics such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI. Each source is listed at the bottom of the guide.
2. How we calculate ranges
"Average" is the midpoint of the medians reported by our sources. "Low" and "High" bound the full range those sources report unless a guide states otherwise. State-level figures apply a regional cost index to the national median and are labeled as estimates.
3. Update schedule
Guides are reviewed on a rolling basis and at least once a year, and sooner when a source publishes new figures. The "Updated" date on each guide is the date its figures were last checked against their sources, not the date of the last cosmetic edit.
4. Not professional advice
CostFlock reports what services cost. We are not veterinarians, contractors or financial advisors, and nothing on this site is medical, legal or financial advice. For animal-health topics in particular, treatment decisions belong with a licensed veterinarian who has examined your pet.
5. Independence
Providers cannot pay to be included, excluded or ranked. Advertising and affiliate relationships are disclosed and have no influence on published prices or recommendations.
6. Corrections
Email [email protected] with the guide URL and your source. Verified corrections are published within 48 hours with a note on the page.
7. Use of AI
We use AI tools to gather source material, organize data and produce first drafts. Every figure is traced back to a listed source and every guide is reviewed by a person before it is published. We do not publish AI output unchecked.
